Solving LMS Rigidity

Struggling to get adoption on your LMS?

Traditional LMS's are failing to live up to their promise, but not because they are designed poorly, but because they are designed exactly as expected. Ignoring the cost of content maintenance, the LMS paradigm is built on a failed premise that focuses on delivering restricted content through a restricted path and ignores a student’s individual path to effective learning. Increasingly, users are dissatisfied with the LMS learning experience and are turning to outside sources for dynamic content and engaged learning.

Peeristics moves beyond the traditional LMS to embrace the best applications and platforms and brings them together in a flexible framework that focuses on teaching and learning with resources that best suit your need, not your LMS's. The Peeristics ecosystem can search sources from anywhere, including applications like Google Drive, Pinterest, OneNote, OneDrive and DropBox, as well as educational applications, connected repositories, personal learning environments, and learning management systems.

Peeristics then curates and recommends the most appropriate and effective resources based on user demographics and grade level. It records and visualizes a learner’s journey through a curriculum and informal learning opportunities to plot a “learning trail” that reflects what works best for the learner. This helps teachers and jurisdictions understand what methods and resources are directly tied to student success.

Collaboration and Sharing made easy

Enable students and educators to collaborate in real time.

Learning isn't done in a vacuum. Communication and collaboration are key to both the development of learning materials and the learning process itself.

Peeristics offers multiple forms of collaboration for students and educators, whether it is through a group wiki, sharing and re-purposing binder resources, or connecting in real-time through our Meeting Spots feature that allows you to share screens with members and chat in real time. Group forums can even be shared to people outside of the network and support external URLs.

Many schools and boards have spent years producing valuable resources, but struggle to share them effectively with teachers and students. Peeristics has a comprehensive search engine that allows users to search for topic-specific resources across the entire network. What's more, Peeristics will develop a context model for each resource, providing information about where the resource came from, how it has been used, what other resources it has been used with, and to which curriculum standards it is aligned. Additionally, Peeristics will tailor search results based on user, so that the right resources are presented. For example, a search for “How do birds fly?” will result in different resources for a Grade 11 physics teacher than for a Grade 3 science teacher.

Resource Context

Discover quantitative information and create contextual layers.

Peeristics LMX adds another layer of context to binders: chronology. Users can discover quantitative information about content including when a piece of content was taught, how often it is taught, how long it takes to teach this content, etc., providing more value to both teachers and jurisdictions, ministries, school boards and administrators. Peeristics Classroom also comes equipped with our Peeristics Core and is traceable from the other modules. The user’s home within the system is their personal space that stores their uploaded resources and archives of any materials they choose. It allows users to send and receive messages and share content with others. Personal spaces also provide a dashboard that can reach outside of Peeristics and keep the user in touch with events, blogs, tweets, and posts from a variety of networks.

For a student, it provides at a glance calendars that span all classes, personal e-portfolios known as Binders. The e-portfolio functions are housed in a flexible content editor that allows students to create engaging content in their own Binder to reflect their learning process. The evidence of their progress allows for reflection, feedback and improvement. The ability to share their work with other students creates a virtual gallery of accomplishments, which inspires students to improve their skills for the sake of representation and expression, not just for grades or expectation.
